Emerging writers feature in SBS ‘True Series’ podcasts
SBS has programmed a new seven-part podcast series featuring stories written and read by early-career Australian writers.
The ‘True Stories’ series is based on the theme of ‘High School’ and celebrates ‘the good, the bad and the ugly of those complicated years’. The podcasts so far have included Luke Carman reading ‘Liverpool Boys’, Maxine Beneba Clarke reading ‘Chinese Straight’, Michael Mohammed Ahmed reading ‘Punchbowl Boys’ and Ellen van Neerven reading ‘Confidence Game’.
The authors were commissioned by SBS and given the opportunity to work with industry producers and scriptwriters to help shape their stories.
The podcast series launched as part of SBS’s multi-platform presentation of its new TV drama ‘The Principal’, with the stories designed to complement the themes and issues explored in the show. The podcasts are published on Wednesdays and are available online through the ‘True Stories’ website and through iTunes.
