The State Library of NSW has announced a new biennial Indigenous Writers Prize, to be part of the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.
The $30,000 prize is intended to ‘acknowledge the contribution made to Australian literary culture by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers’. It will be awarded to a work in any category, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, children’s and young adult, plays and scriptwriting, and entrants are also eligible to enter their work in other award categories.
In 2016, the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards will have a total prize pool of $305,000. Nominations are now being sought before entries close on 9 October. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in May. For more information, click here.
