Goldsmiths Prize 2015 shortlist announced

In the UK, the shortlist for the 2015 Goldsmiths Prize has been announced. The shortlisted titles are: Beatlebone (Kevin Barry, Canongate), Acts of the Assassins (Richard Beard, Harvill Secker), Satin Island (Tom McCarthy, Jonathan Cape), The Field of the Cloth of Gold (Magnus Mills, Bloomsbury), Grief is the Thing with Feathers (Max Porter, Faber) and Lurid & Cute (Adam Thirlwell, Jonathan Cape). The Goldsmiths Prize was launched in 2013 by Goldsmiths University and the New Statesman to reward fiction from the UK and Ireland that ‘breaks the mould and opens up new possibilities for the novel form’. This year’s winner will be announced on 11 November. Previous winners are Eimear McBride’s A Girl is a Half-formed Thing (Text) and Ali Smith’s How to be Both (Hamish Hamilton).
