‘Overland’ Victoria University Short Story Prize 2015 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2015 Overland Victoria University Short Story Prize for New and Emerging Writers has been announced.

 The shortlisted stories are:

‘The Conservation of the Stars’ (Michalia Arathimos)

  • ‘Mary, Mary’ (Fiona Bell)
  • ‘Alpine Road’ (Jennifer Down)
  • ‘Parenthesized Latin’ (Jonathan Dunk)
  • ‘Monday, 25 years old’ (Amarlie Foster)
  • ‘Shibboleth’ (Jo Riccioni)
  • ‘Raptor’ (Erin Ritchie)
  • ‘Triplets’ (Jackson Nieuwland)
  • ‘Faking’ (Genevieve Poetka)
  • ‘Here Are the Holes in My Eyes’ (Ben Walter)
  • ‘Their Cruel Routines’ (Barry Lee Thompson).

 

The winner and runners-up for the $8000 prize will be announced next week with the publication of Overland’s final issue for the year.

This year’s prize is judged by Overland editor Jacinda Woodhead, Victoria University academic Natalie Kon-yu and author Nam Le.
