Krznaric, Genova to headline 2016 Perth Writers Festival

The Perth Writers Festival has announced a number of authors on its 2016 line-up.

International guests appearing at the festival, which runs from 18-21 February, include UK pop-philosopher Roman Krznaric; US neuroscientist and author Lisa Genova; UK author Simon Winchester; Canadian novelist Patrick deWitt; Russian-US author and activist Masha Gessen; and US novelist and short story writer Lauren Groff.

UK scientist and author Richard Dawkins will also speak at a special event at the Perth Concert Hall on 22 February, reflecting on ‘a lifetime of tireless intellectual adventure’.

Krzanic will give the festival’s opening address with a speech on ‘the power of empathy to fundamentally transform our lives’, and Genova will close the festival with an address on ‘the artist’s portrayal of issues central to our humanity’.

Also announced is a ‘Paddock to Print’ special event, exploring ‘the explosion of interest in food blogging, politics and storytelling around eating that connects food lovers’. Speakers at the event include Delicious magazine editor Valli Little, blogger Michelle Crawford and UK food creative Anna Jones, who has worked as Jamie Oliver’s ‘food stylist’.
