CBCA announces 2016 conference program

The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has announced the program for next year’s national conference, to be held at the Menzies Hotel in Sydney from 20-21 May.

The conference, entitled ‘Read: Myriad Possibilities’, includes keynotes speeches by Libby Gleeson and Jeannie Baker and a closing address by Graeme Base. Highlights include a publishing panel featuring guests from Penguin, A&U, Text and Windy Hollow; a panel on picture-book partnerships with Susanne Gervay and Anna Pignataro, Janeen Brian and Ann James, and Mark Greenwood and Terry Denton; and a YA panel featuring Melissa Keil, Gabrielle Tozer, Ellie Marney and Will Kostakis.

Other sessions include a musical celebration by George Ellis and orchestra; a panel on the internet and nonfiction with Carole Wilkinson and Claire Saxby; and a discussion on hooking young readers with James Roy, Jack Heath, Deb Abela and George Ivanoff.

The 2016 CBCA Awards shortlists will be announced during the conference at midday on 20 May.

A trade display will also run during the festival.
