Costa Book Awards 2015 shortlists announced

In the UK, the shortlists for the 2015 Costa Book Awards have been announced. The four titles shortlisted for the 2015 Costa Novel Award are: A God in Ruins (Kate Atkinson, Doubleday); The Green Road (Anne Enright, Jonathan Cape); A Place Called Winter (Patrick Gale, Tinder Press); and At Hawthorn Time (Melissa Harrison, Bloomsbury). Shortlists were also announced in the categories of First Novel, Biography, Poetry and Children’s Book, which can be viewed on the Costa Award website here. The category winners, each receiving £5,000 (A$10,700), will be announced on 4 January, with one of the winning books selected as the overall Costa Book of the Year on 26 January 2016 and awarded a further £30,000 (A$64,300). As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the 2014 Costa Book of the Year was awarded to H is for Hawk (Helen Macdonald, Vintage), after it previously won in the Biography category.
