Adelaide Writers’ Week named Best Community Event

Adelaide Writers’ Week (AWW) was named Best Community Event at the 2015 Australian Event Awards in Sydney on 17 November. The annual award is presented to the event that best ‘engages with and builds a community’. The 2015 AWW drew a capacity crowd to a number of events and recorded a 17% increase in book sales. Festival director Laura Kroetsch said organisers were ‘thrilled’ to receive the award. ‘Being recognised as the country’s best community event is a fabulous way to celebrate the 55th birthday of Adelaide Writers’ Week,’ said Kroetsch. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, AWW has announced the line-up for its 2016 festival, which runs from 27 February to 3 March.
