Amazon signs lease for new Sydney HQ

Amazon has signed a seven-year lease for its new Australian headquarters, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

The lease is for more than 9260sqm of office space—estimated to be over four floors—at 2 Park Street in the Sydney CBD. Amazon currently occupies a 2400sqm office for its Amazon Web Services cloud computing services at 55 Hunter Street, for which it signed a lease in October 2013.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Amazon is also ‘said to be reviewing industrial sites for an Australian distribution business’. In July the Sydney Morning Herald reported that Amazon was looking for office space in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as an industrial space for a ‘distribution centre to store goods for local customers’.
