Ebook sales down 2.4% for ‘big five’

In the UK, ebook sales for the big five publishers—Penguin Random House (PRH), Hachette, HarperCollins, Pan Macmillan and Simon & Schuster—have all declined in the past year, reports the Bookseller. In total, the big five publishers accounted for 47.9 million ebook sales in 2015, down 2.4% from 49.0 million in 2014, 42.5 million in 2013 and 35.8 million in 2012. The biggest drop in sales was recorded by Pan Macmillan, which declined 6.6% to 5.5 million. The smallest drop was from Simon & Schuster, down 0.3% to 2.6 million.
