Dawkins cancels Australian tour
UK author Richard Dawkins has cancelled his upcoming Australian and New Zealand tour after suffering a ‘minor stroke’ in the UK.
Dawkins was scheduled to speak at a number of events, including a sold-out special event on 22 February as part of the Perth Writers Festival and an event in Wellington on 4 March as part of New Zealand Writers Week. He also had events booked in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
The Sydney Opera House event organisers said in a statement that Dawkins was expected to make a ‘full or near full recovery’ and is ‘looking forward to renewing his plans in the not too distant future’.
Dawkins was touring to promote Brief Candle in The Dark (Bantam), his second memoir and 13th book.
