Australian, NZ publishers nominated for Bologna Prize

Australian publishers Wilkins Farago and Berbay Publishing and New Zealand publisher Book Island have been nominated in the Oceania region for the Bologna Prize for Best Children’s Publishers of the Year.

Presented by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, which runs from 4-7 April, the prize recognises ‘publishers at the forefront of innovation in their activity for the creative nature of the editorial choices they have made during the previous year’s edition of the fair’.

Nominations were also made in five other geographical regions: Asia, Africa, Central-South America, Europe and North America.

Publishers exhibiting at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair are able to vote for the winners, which will be announced at a ceremony on the first day of the fair.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Allen & Unwin won the prize in 2015, which means it cannot be nominated in this year’s awards.
