Shortlist announced for 2016 Diagram Prize for oddest book title

The shortlist for the 2016 Diagram Prize for Oddest Book Title of the Year, presented by the Bookseller, has been announced. The seven titles selected for the shortlist are: Reading the Liver: Papyrological Texts on Ancient Greek Extispicy (William Furley & Victor Gysembergh, Mohr Siebeck), Too Naked for the Nazis (Alan Stafford, Fantom Films), Paper Folding with Children (Alice Hornecke, trans by Anna Cardwell, Floris Books), Transvestite Vampire Biker Nuns from Outer Space: A Consideration of Cult Film (Mark Kirwan-Hayhoe, MKH Imprint), Behind the Binoculars: Interviews with Acclaimed Birdwatchers (Mark Avery & Keith Betton, Pelagic Publishing), Soviet Bus Stops (Christopher Herwig, Fuel) and Reading from Behind: A Cultural History of the Anus (Jonathan Allan, Zed Books). The winner will be chosen by public vote and will receive a ‘passable bottle of claret’. Last year’s winner was Strangers Have the Best Candy (Margaret Meps Schulte, Choose Art).
