Dempsey joins SPN as general manager

Former Books+Publishing editor-in-chief Matthia Dempsey has joined the Small Press Network as general manager.

Dempsey takes over from Hannah Cartmel, who is returning to freelance editing. Cartmel has been acting general manager since the departure of Mary Masters on maternity leave in 2015.

Dempsey told Books+Publishing: ‘I’ve followed the evolution of the Small Press Network since it first launched and am so happy to be joining and supporting a community of passionate independent publishers.’

Dempsey recently edited and published the nonfiction title Birth with Confidence (Boathouse Press) during her recent time on maternity leave.
