Affirm acquires Dennis Lillee autobiography

Affirm Press will publish an illustrated autobiography by former Test cricketer Dennis Lillee in November as part of its ‘Icon’ series of sports autobiographies.

The book will include previously unseen photographs and memorabilia from Lillee’s private collection, and written contributions from a ‘who’s who’ of Australian and international cricketers, including Jeff Thomson, Rod Marsh, Ian and Greg Chappell, Ian Botham, David Gower, Bob Willis, Gary Sobers and Viv Richards.

Affirm publishing director Martin Hughes said Lillee is ‘without a doubt one of Australia’s greatest ever Test cricketers’ and is ‘as immensely popular as ever’. ‘He played during one of the most lively and intriguing cricket periods in modern memory, with the rise of the West Indies, great Ashes battles against Ian Botham and co, and of course the birth of World Series Cricket,’ said Hughes.

Dennis Lillee’s autobiography Lillee was published in 2003 by Hodder Headline, selling 20,000 copies in Australia and 50,000 in the UK.
