Australia Council February grants announced

Seventeen literary organisations and almost 40 writers and writing groups have received Australia Council grants as part of its $11.2m February grants round.

The 17 literary organisations received a combined $491,007 in funding in the arts projects for organisations category. They are:

  • Writers’ festivals: Brisbane Writers Festival, Emerging Writers’ Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival, National Young Writers’ Festival and Perth Writers Festival.
  • Publishing: Australian Publishers Association, Kill Your Darlings, Black Pepper Publishing, Spineless Wonders, University of Western Sydney’s Writing and Society Research Centre, UWA Publishing and Westerly.
  • Other groups: Asia Pacific Writers & Translators, Australian Children’s Literature Alliance, NSW Writers’ Centre, Playlab and the English Association Sydney.

Thirty-two individual arts projects grants worth just over $1m were awarded to writers. Development grants worth $49,560 were also awarded to five individual writers and the Canberra Children’s Writers Group.

A total of 404 projects were funded from 1542 applications, with $5m going to 239 individual artists, $1.6m to 65 groups, and $4.6m to 100 small to medium arts organisations. To view the full list of recipients, click here.
