Zoella book club titles surge on Amazon UK charts

In the UK, YouTube personality and author of Girl Online Zoella has announced the eight books to be featured in her book club, propelling the books up the Amazon charts, reports the Bookseller. Zoella (Zoe Sugg) previously announced that she would partner with UK retailer WH Smith to launch a book club that features ‘all the books Zoella loves most’. The club was officially launched on 10 June, with Sugg revealing the eight selected titles in a paid-for video on her YouTube channel. Seven of the eight titles saw dramatic increases in the Amazon UK bestsellers chart in the YA category, with sales for The Potion Diaries (Amy Alward, S&S) jumping from 35,595th position to 316th, indicating a sales increase of 11,164% in over 24 hours. Other titles from the book club to see a jump in the eretailer’s charts include Nicola Yoon’s Everything Everything (Corgi), which increased by 7,764% to 14th place; We Were Liars (E Lockhart, A&U), which rose by 6759%; and Beautiful Broken Things (Sara Barnard, Macmillan), which increased by 3422%. WH Smith is offering special book club editions of each of the books, with each title to be displayed fortnightly in every WH Smith store. Sugg will also review each of the titles on the WH Smith blog and conduct interviews with the authors. For the full list of the featured titles, click here.
