Byron Writers Festival announces new children’s writing bus

The Byron Writers Festival has announced a new children’s writing bus to support its regional creative writing program StoryBoard.

The bus, which has been funded by a $50,000 grant from Arts NSW, will be used to carry authors and volunteers to regional schools.

Byron Writers Festival director Edwina Johnson said the bus ‘will be a beautiful, magical vehicle spreading news of the program and bringing authors and volunteer tutors directly to where they are needed most—our region’s schools’. ‘It will give the program leverage to be able to travel, visit and tour to schools in the further western regions of Northern Rivers, as well as extending into Northern NSW,’ said Johnson.

In its pilot year, the StoryBoard program will visit 20 regional schools within an 80km radius of Byron Bay and offer a range of writing workshops and other youth opportunities.
