Audible unveils unlimited short-form streaming service

In the US, Amazon-owned audiobook portal Audible has unveiled an unlimited, short-form audio listening service called Channels, reports Publishers Weekly. The ad-free service is free to Audible subscribers while non-subscribers can access it for US$4.95 (A$6.54) per month. Channels has a ‘consistently updated roster of original programming and exclusive content’, including comedy, serialised programs, lectures and narrated newspaper articles. Audible executive vice-president Beth Anderson said the Channels content is ‘hand-selected’ by editors and read by celebrities, authors and professional actors. ‘Much like our audiobook and long-form original productions, the performer for each individual piece of content is chosen with tremendous care in order to achieve an outstanding listening experience,’ Anderson said.
