Eight literary organisations receive multi-year funding from Creative Victoria

A number of literary organisations are among the 90 recipients of the 2017-2020 funding round of Creative Victoria’s Organisations Investment Program, worth a total of $113m over the next four years.

The eight literary sector organisations received a total of $9.58m. The recipients are:

  • Australian Poetry ($240,000)
  • Creative Clunes ($240,000)
  • Emerging Writers’ Festival ($341,600)
  • Express Media ($562,800)
  • Melbourne Writers Festival ($1,196,000)
  • Overland ($240,000)
  • The Wheeler Centre Melbourne ($6,166,400)
  • Writers Victoria Inc. Melbourne ($589,600)

Each of the organisations funded were recipients of the program’s first funding round in 2013. The program shifted to a four-year model from this round to align with the Australia Council’s funding cycles.

The Organisations Investment Program provides funding to small, medium and large arts organisations to underpin their operations. Priority was given to providing a stable base for smaller, more vulnerable organisations that are delivering strong creative or cultural outcomes. In April the program received a funding boost as part of the Victorian government’s ‘Creative State’ strategy.
