Booktopia wins ORIA for Best Mobile Commerce Site

Online bookseller Booktopia was awarded a 2016 Online Retail Award (ORIA) in the Best Mobile Commerce Site/Application category at an awards ceremony in Sydney on 21 July.

Booktopia was also nominated in the Best Pure-Play Online Retailer category and the People’s Choice Award, while its CEO Tony Nash was nominated for the Industry Recognition Award. It’s the first time Booktopia has won an ORIA after being a finalist 17 times.

Nash told Books+Publishing the mobile site has undergone significant development and user-experience work over the past two years, led by chief technology officer Wayne Baskin and his team.

‘As mobile becomes more and more prevalent in the world today winning this award is all the more important as transactions occur on mobiles much more than previous years,’ said Nash. ‘Functionality and conversion rates play a strategic part for any business with a website or mobile site today’.

The other finalists in the mobile category were Catch of the Day, Costume Box, Dan Murphy’s, Hello Fresh and Woolworths.

The ORIAs, now in their seventh year, recognise excellence in online and multichannel retail. For more information about the awards, click here.
