HarperCollins appoints Hedley as NZ publisher

HarperCollins has appointed Alex Hedley as its New Zealand publisher, replacing Finlay MacDonald, who left for a role outside publishing, in the position.

Hedley has been general nonfiction publisher at Penguin Random House New Zealand for the past four years. He is also a photographer and book author.

HarperCollins Australia and New Zealand CEO James Kellow said the publisher is ‘totally committed to the New Zealand market’. ‘As befits our heritage as New Zealand’s oldest publisher, we want to provide New Zealand readers with quality Kiwi stories that reflect their lives, culture and experience,’ said Kellow. ‘I’m delighted we have someone of Alex’s calibre joining our dynamic team to build on Finlay’s excellent foundations.’

Hedley starts in the role on 3 October.
