Among the newly announced international guests are US authors Erica Jong (Fear of Flying, Vintage) and Lionel Shriver, Indian author Amit Chaudhuri, Pakistani author Kamila Shamsie, and US writer and memoirist Ariel Leve.

They join other international guests first announced in July, including US author Hanya Yanagihara (A Little Life, Picador), South-Korean-US journalist Suki Kim (Without You, There is No Us, Ebury), US author Mitchell S Jackson (The Residue Years, Bloomsbury), Mexican novelist Juan Pablo Villalobos and Sudanese-US poet and activist Emi Mahmoud.

The 2016 festival carries the theme ‘I am you, you are me’, with a program that explores issues of identity and inclusion, how we encounter and counter extremism, and the changing face of feminism across the globe. More than 160 authors, artists, performers and activists will appear at over 200 events.
