F Scott Fitzgerald unpublished short stories to be released in 2017

A new collection of previously unpublished short stories by F Scott Fitzgerald will be published in the US in April 2017, reports the Guardian. Titled I’d Die for You and Other Lost Stories, the new book will be published by Simon & Schuster US imprint Scribner, and will mostly feature stories written by Fitzgerald in the mid and late 1930s. The stories include work that Fitzgerald was unable to sell because its ‘subject matter or style departed from what editors expected’ of the author at the time, as well as writing for magazines that was never printed. The title story ‘I’d Die for You’ is inspired by Fitzgerald’s time in North Carolina while his wife Zelda Fitzgerald was confined to a nearby sanatorium. Publisher Scribner said in a statement that the collection will ‘provide new insight into the bold and uncompromising arc of Fitzgerald’s career’.
