Kirkus Prize 2016 finalists announced

The finalists have been announced for the 2016 Kirkus Prize, sponsored by the US publication Kirkus Reviews. The awards are presented in three categories—fiction, nonfiction and young readers’ literature—and each carry a cash prize of US$50,000 (A$65,500). Shortlisted in the fiction category are: Imagine Me Gone (Adam Haslett, Hamish Hamilton), Carousel Court (Joe McGinniss, S&S), The Sport of Kings (C E Morgan, Fourth Estate), Barkskins (Annie Proulx, Fourth Estate), A Gentleman in Moscow (Amor Towles, Hutchinson) and The Underground Railroad (Colson Whitehead, Orbit). The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Texas on 3 November. This is the third year that the awards have been held. For more information, visit the Kirkus Reviews website.
