Harlequin to fully integrate into HarperCollins ANZ

Harlequin Australia is to fully integrate into HarperCollins ANZ, with the Harlequin publishing division sharing HarperCollins’ sales network and in-house services, including contracts, rights, pre-press, supply and data solutions, HarperCollins CEO James Kellow has announced.

The Harlequin division will be led by publishing director Sue Brockhoff, who will oversee publishing, editorial, marketing and communications, and direct-to-consumer logistics. Publishing executive Lilia Kanna has been promoted to head of series and international publishing, and associate publisher Jo Mackay has been promoted to publisher.

Kellow said he is ‘very excited about the potential to grow the Harlequin business’. ‘The injection of support, resources and services, combined with access to our broad sales operation, will provide more opportunities to expand the readership for Harlequin authors across the Australian and New Zealand markets,’ said Kellow.

As part of the restructure, Harlequin operations and commercial director Cristina Lee will be leaving the business at the end of October. Kellow thanked Lee for the ‘significant contribution she has made to Harlequin over the last eight years’. ‘Her passion for the list, her commitment to authors, her care and attention to staff, and her meticulous attention to detail has helped the business mature and grow into the exciting list it is today,’ said Kellow.
