CHASS Australia Prize 2016 shortlist announced

The Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) has announced the 2016 Australia Book Prize shortlist.

The prize, worth $3500, is part of the CHASS Australia Prizes program, which aims to draw international attention to Australia’s achievements in the humanities, arts and social sciences.

The shortlisted titles are:

  • The Eighties: The Decade That Transformed Australia (Frank Bongiorno, Black Inc.)
  • Across the Seas: Australia’s Response to Refugees: A History (Klaus Neumann, Black Inc.)
  • Mannix (Brenda Niall, Text).

The titles were chosen from a longlist announced in August. The winner will be announced at the CHASS Australia Prizes Dinner at RMIT University on 20 October.
