Oneworld orders 120k UK reprint of ‘The Sellout’; 40k for Australia

In the UK, Oneworld has ordered a 120,000 reprint of Paul Beatty’s novel The Sellout following its Man Booker Prize win, reports the Bookseller. A further 40,000 copies have been ordered for the Australian market, available from United Book Distributors on 31 October, and 10,000 for India. After publishing the book in hardback in 2015, Oneworld released a paperback edition in May 2016 and has sold 10,152 copies in paperback and 12,767 across all editions in the UK. Waterstones fiction buyer Chris White said he ‘couldn’t be happier’ with the choice. ‘The Booker judges have awarded the most significant of literary prizes to what feels like the most significant novel to have emerged in these strange and  difficult times,’ said White. ‘Most of all I am delighted for the thousands of new readers who are about to experience this extraordinary book for the first time.’
