Bonnier to launch self-publishing platform in the UK

Swedish-owned Bonnier Books is launching a new print and digital self-publishing platform in the UK, reports the Bookseller.

Type & Tell, which launches at the London Book Fair in March, has been operating in Sweden since September 2015 by Bonnier Book Ventures. It offers authors editorial, typesetting, design and distribution services for an upfront fee, with authors to receive 100% of royalties after costs.

Type & Tell country manager Jon Watt told the Bookseller that Bonnier’s investment in the self-publishing platform was ‘a statement of intent; not only in Type & Tell’s commitment to affordable quality, but also to the future of self-publishing’. ‘We see self-publishing’s growth partly as a reflection of a social change—society’s desire to share more and a sense of entitlement to speak and be heard—and partly as a result of the recent democratisation of publishing.’
