Martyn joins production company Lingo Pictures

Former HarperCollins publishing director Shona Martyn has joined production company Lingo Pictures as a book scout.

Martyn said she is ‘delighted’ to be joining the company ‘at a time when the thirst for transforming books into TV and film has never been stronger’. ‘There are many splendid stories just waiting to be made and many opportunities for authors as a result,’ said Martyn.

Lingo Pictures is owned by TV producers Helen Bowden and Jason Stephens. Bowden said the company wanted its own ‘literary sleuth on the front line and there is no one more beloved by authors, agents and publishers than Shona Martyn’. ‘Her taste, creativity and focus are legendary,’ said Bowden.

Lingo Pictures is currently producing a two-part adaptation of Wake in Fright for Network Ten.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Martyn left HarperCollins in late 2016 to pursue ‘new challenges’ after 17 years with the company.
