Amazon to be fully operational in Australia by end of 2018, reports ‘Fairfax’

Amazon plans to be fully operational in Australia by the end of 2018, Fairfax reported on 28 March.

Fairfax has since removed the story from its websites.

Former Amazon global logistics senior manager Brittain Ladd told Fairfax the retailer will ‘launch as many services and products as possible within Australia’, which it views as an ‘attractive market’.

Ladd, who was working on Amazon’s global grocery rollout, said it will build physical grocery stores ‘only after Amazon has become more established in the country and analysis determines the market will support physical stores’.

Amazon is currently hiring for a number of Brisbane-based positions for its Amazon Fresh grocery delivery service.

This story has been updated after an Amazon spokesperson told Books+Publishing that Brittain Ladd is no longer employed by Amazon, as was reported by Fairfax.
