Shortlist for ‘Lip’ magazine’s Rachel Funari prize announced

The shortlist for Lip magazine’s annual Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction has been announced.

The shortlisted authors and their works are:

  • ‘Aftermath’ by Alice Bishop
  • ‘Burning Day’ by Kristin Meachem
  • ‘Crack’ by Zoë Bradley
  • ‘Mammal’ by Emily O’Grady
  • ‘Naming Rights’ by Elizabeth Flux
  • ‘Pools 2007’ by Alexandra Philp
  • ‘Rebirth’ by Jacqueline Trott
  • ‘Suffering is Universal’ by Jean Flynn
  • ‘Teeth’ by Annie Zhang
  • ‘The Echo of Sound’ by Mandy Beaumont
  • ‘The Glass Half’ by Emily Clements
  • ‘The Nest’ by Kerrin O’Sullivan.

The winner of the $1500 prize will be announced at the Emerging Writers’ Festival in Melbourne on 20 June.

Writers were asked to submit previously unpublished fiction of up to 2000 words that engages with the theme ‘rebirth’. For more information, click here.
