A&U acquires second book from Clementine Ford

Allen & Unwin (A&U) has acquired a second book from Fight Like a Girl author Clementine Ford, to be published in late 2018.

Boys Will Be Boys ‘will examine toxic masculinity and the bonds of brotherhood that are used to codify male power, access and protection’, the author announced on her Facebook page.

‘From rape jokes on Facebook to reddit to MRA groups and the outer corners of the internet and all the way inwards to the annals of power—the political parties, the legislators, the private school boys—this book will turn a sharp eye toward a masculinity that is presented as ever expansive but is in reality exceptionally limited,’ said Ford.

Ford said she would bring ‘the same uncompromising fury and compassion to this project’ as she did for her previous book.

Fight Like a Girl was published in 2016 and was shortlisted for General Nonfiction Book of the Year at the ABIAs and the ABA Nielsen BookData Booksellers Choice Award. Ford also won the Matt Richell Award for new writers at the ABIAs.
