Government boosts funding for ArtsReady internship program

The federal government has announced an additional $200,000 in funding for its ArtsReady internship program, which assists arts and culture sector employers in providing 12-month traineeships to graduates.

ArtsReady offers skills development programs that combine practical experience with vocational education, in streams including writing and publishing, festivals and events, and museums and libraries. The programs are delivered by AFL SportsReady, a company that prepares students for work in the sports industry.

The additional funding aims to assists ArtsReady as it transitions to a fully self-funded program.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the program received $3.4m in funding over four years in the 2013-14 budget.
