Solomun launches The Rights Hive agency

Former Penguin Random House (PRH) and Five Mile Press rights manager Natasha Solomun has launched a new rights agency, The Rights Hive, to provide representation of foreign and subsidiary rights for publishers and literary agents.

The Rights Hive currently represents literary agency Jacinta di Mase Management, whose authors include Clementine Ford, Natasha Lester, Tess Woods, Leah Kaminsky and Myfanwy Jones, among others. Other clients include children’s picture book publisher Little Book Press and the National Library of Australia.

As rights manager for children and YA books at PRH, Solomun worked with authors such as Sonya Hartnett, Isobelle Carmody, Melina Marchetta and Morris Gleitzman, as well as foreign publishers, agents and film producers. At Five Mile Press Solomun worked with authors and illustrators such as Jedda Robaard, Ann James and the Estate of Richard Scarry, and was responsible for the management of co-edition printings for the Netherlands, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

Solomun told Books+Publishing she is ‘passionate about Australian literature across all genres, from books for adults and those for younger readers’.

The Rights Hive will be at Frankfurt Book Fair this year as part of the Australian Publishers Association stand, representing titles for adults and children. For more information, click here.
