Canberra Writers Festival 2017 program launched

The program has been announced for the second annual Canberra Writers Festival, which will run from 25-27 August.

International guests appearing at the festival include UK novelist Samantha Shannon, Dutch author Rutger Bregman, UK journalist Reni Eddo-Lodge and US-UK novelist Tracy Chevalier.

Local guests include Kathy Lette, Tracey Spicer, John Safran, Tony Jones, Garth Nix and George Megalogenis. They join a number of local authors announced in May, including Maggie Alderson, Richard Fidler, Julia Baird, Nikki Gemmell, Robyn Williams, Jack Heath and Graeme Simsion.

The festival, which runs under the theme ‘Power, Politics and Passion’, will be the first under former Australia Council CEO Jennifer Bott, who has been appointed artistic director.

The Canberra Writers Festival was developed in partnership with the Melbourne Writers Festival, and has the support of a number of foundation partners, including the ACT government. For more information, click here.
