The Melbourne City of Literature Office will commission 52 original pieces of writing, each titled after a Victorian town or suburb, to be published on its website every Monday morning in 2018.
The Reading Victoria project marks the 10th anniversary of Melbourne’s designation as a UNESCO City of Literature.
Writers in any genre are invited to pitch up to 100 words for any area in Victoria. Writers commissioned will receive $300. An editorial team comprising Sophie Cunningham, Andre Dao, Liz Flux, Omar Sakr and Veronica Sullivan will review submissions, which are due by 2 October.
