Audiobooks added to Kobo app

Kobo has added an audiobook service to its smartphone and tablet app, with a monthly one-book membership costing $12.99.

The service launched on 6 September in Australia. Members can also purchase one-off titles, with a two-book monthly membership to be added later.

Kobo said research from its users in Canada, the US, UK and Australia/New Zealand found just under half (46%) listen to audiobooks, with 18% listening to an average of three per month. Those currently listening to audiobooks read the same number of ebooks as those not listening to audiobooks.
