FictionAllen & Unwin has sold simplified Chinese character rights to The Ancestor Game (Alex Miller) to QingDao. Penguin Random House Australia has sold North American rights to Year of the Orphan (Dan Findlay); and German language rights to The Girl in Kellers Way (Megan Goldin).

NonfictionAllen & Unwin has sold Vietnamese rights to Contemporary Cultural Theory (3rd edition) (Andrew Milner and Jeff Browitt) to Vietnam Culture, Education and Media Company; and simplified Chinese character rights to What Expert Teachers Do (John Loughran) to East China Normal University Press. Murdoch Books has sold German, US and French rights to Probiotic Drinks at Home (Felicity Evans); German, Dutch and US rights to Coastline (Lucio Galletto & David Dale); and German rights to New Pizza (Stefano Manfredi). Penguin Random House Australia has sold Vietnamese language rights to A Long Way Home (Saroo Brierley); simplified Chinese character rights to The Spoonfed Generation (Michael Grose); and simplified Chinese character rights to The Confidence Gap (Russ Harris). Spinifex Press has sold Czech language rights to Bibliodiversity: A Manifesto for Independent Publishing (Susan Hawthorne) to publisher wo-men.

Children’sBerbay Publishing has sold German rights to Heads and Tails (John Canty) to Hanser Verlag. Penguin Random House Australia has sold North American rights to How to Feel Awesome Everyday (Elly Awesome); Portuguese language rights in Portugal to Once and Then (Morris Gleitzman); Czech language rights to the 13th and 14th titles in the ‘Ranger’s Apprentice’ series, and the 7th title in the ‘Brotherband’ series (all John Flanagan); Swedish language rights to Ranger’s Apprentice 6: The Siege of Macindaw (John Flanagan); French and Turkish rights to Lots (Marc Martin); Brazilian rights to A River (Marc Martin); UK rights to What’s up Top? (Marc Martin); and simplified Chinese character rights to the following titles: Dr Boogaloo and the Girl Who Lost her Laughter (Lisa Nicol), The Amazing Monster Detectoscope (Graeme Base), and The Gobbledygook is Eating a Book and The Gobbledygook and the Scribbledynoodle (both by Justine Clarke, Arthur Baysting & Tom Jellett).

NonfictionScribe has acquired world rights to Trace (Rachael Brown, see news).

Children’sHardie Grant Egmont has acquired world rights to Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds and another three books in the ‘Jane Doe’ chronicles (Jeremy Lachlan) via Curtis Brown Australia. (See news.) Penguin Random House has acquired ANZ rights to No One Likes a Fart (Zoe Foster Blake).
