Hachette closes Weinstein Books imprint

In the US, the Hachette Book Group (HBG) announced it will terminate its Weinstein Books imprint, effective immediately, reports Publishers Weekly.

The decision follows reports exposing decades of sexual assault allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, and his firing from the company he co-founded. HBG took over the imprint when it purchased Perseus Books Groups in 2014. Perseus had previously struck a co-publishing deal with the Weinstein Company in 2009.

The imprint published about 10 titles a year. HBG said titles under the imprint will be now published by the Hachette Books imprint, and all Weinstein Books employees will join the Hachette Books team.
