RB Media launches Audiobooks.com in Australia

Audiobook publisher and digital media distributor RB Media, which owns Australian audiobook provider Wavesound, has launched its streaming and downloading service Audiobooks.com in Australia today.

RB Media is offering new subscribers two free audiobooks when they sign up for a free 30-day trial. Following the trial, a monthly one-book subscription will cost $14.95.

The service aims to have over 70,000 titles available by the end of 2017 and is available on a variety of platforms, including phones, desktops, smartwatches, Apple Carplay, Android Auto and with information systems in Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles.

Audiobooks.com reported a soft launch of the site in Australia has already seen users consume 2.2 million hours of content and 80,000 audiobooks.

Ian Small, Audiobooks.com CEO, said in a statement: ‘We know what consumers and publishers want from our library platform experience and are leveraging this knowledge to bring Audiobooks.com to the Australian market … we expect the Australian market to go from strength to strength.’
