Oscar-nominated screenwriter to write, produce ‘Nevermoor’ adaptation

The Oscar-nominated US screenwriter, director and producer Drew Goddard will write and produce the film adaptation of Jessica Townsend’s children’s book Nevermoor (Lothian), reports the Hollywood Reporter.

Goddard was a screenwriter for the films The Martian and Cabin in the Woods, as well as TV shows including Daredevil and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Twentieth Century Fox optioned the film rights to the novel in 2016.

Nevermoor was published in Australian on 10 October and debuted at number eight on Nielsen BookScan’s Australian bestsellers chart, making it the biggest debut children’s book in the Australian market since records began. It has been sold into over 25 territories.
