‘The Town’ sold to US, European territories

Faber has sold the rights to Shaun Prescott’s novel The Town, published in Australia by Brow Books, into the US and several European territories.

The novel has been sold to Farrer, Straus and Giroux in the US, Buchet/Chastel at Libella in France, Blumenbar at Aufbau in Germany and Literatura Random House in Spain.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Faber acquired world rights to The Town in October.

Brow Books publisher Sam Cooney told Books+Publishing it was ‘terrific news for a quiet, sincere, critical and darkly funny work of Australian fiction’. ‘That such renowned publishing houses from countries with such rich literary histories see so much potential in The Town proves the universal appeal of the novel is real,’ said Cooney. ‘To have all these publishing houses sign on to a book that hasn’t (yet—fingers crossed) won a single award is testament to the subtle power of this remarkable work of fiction.’

Faber will publish The Town in the UK in August 2018.
