HQ to publish actress McGowan’s memoir in ANZ

HarperCollins Australia imprint HQ will publish US actress Rose McGowan’s memoir Brave in Australia and New Zealand in January 2018.

McGowan’s ‘memoir/manifesto’ will be a ‘pull-no-punches’ account of her life as an actress and activist who is ‘determined to expose the truth about the entertainment industry’ and ‘shine a light on a multibillion-dollar business built of systemic misogyny’, said the publisher.

HQ ANZ publishing director Sue Brockhoff said the imprint is ‘honoured’ to be working on ‘an important and vital story’.

HQ UK senior commissioning editor Rachel Kenny, who acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the book, described McGowan as ‘one the first women to expose the misogynistic and abhorrent practices in Hollywood at the expense of her reputation, her financial stability and her career’.
