Twelfth Planet Press’ Kaleidoscope imprint to publish first novel

Independent genre publishers Twelfth Planet Press will publish Kate Gordon’s YA novel Thyla as the first novel under its Kaleidoscope imprint, which specialises in representing diversity in YA fiction.

Thyla, which was first published by Random House Australia in 2011, is ‘a thrilling paranormal tale of shapeshifting, a centuries-old war, and finding out who you really are when your memories betray you’.

Twelfth Planet Press publisher Alisa Krasnostein said Thyla is ‘an ideal first novel for our Kaleidoscope imprint’. ‘It presents us with a diversity of experience rarely found in Young Adult novels, challenging readers to identify with characters across the spectrum,’ said Krasnostein.

Twelfth Planet Press launched the Kaleidoscope imprint in 2013. The publication of Gordon’s novel follows a series of anthologies released under the imprint.
