Leading Edge Books announces conference program

Leading Edge Books has released the program for its 2018 conference, to be held from 25-27 March at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart, Tasmania.

Entrepreneur and author Andrew Keen will give the keynote address at the conference. The author of How to Fix the Future: Staying Human in the Digital Age (A&U) will share his ideas about ‘the future of books’, and recommendations for ‘the role booksellers play in preserving human values in an increasingly digital world’.

The conference will also feature a number of sessions with authors, including Christian White, Gillian Triggs, John Purcell, Tim Winton, Andrew Hansen and Jessica Roberts, Kristina Olsson, Clementine Ford and Chris Hammer.

Other sessions include Nielsen Book associate director Julie Winters on 2017 sales and future trends; a live podcast event presented by author and host of the podcast On Writing Joshua Pomare; an interactive hour of ‘author speed dating’; a Q&A industry forum on supply chain issues; and a session on converting social media into sales.

The conference will also run its annual session on booksellers’ best business ideas, as well as a trade show and an awards dinner on 26 March, which includes the announcement of the 2018 Indie Book Awards.
