VanOver to join S&S

Simon & Schuster (S&S) has appointed Brandon VanOver to the newly created role of associate publisher, nonfiction.

VanOver has worked across fiction, nonfiction and children’s titles as managing editor at Penguin Random House, editing the works of authors such as Peter FitzSimons, Richard Flanagan and Judy Nunn. He started his career at literary agency Curtis Brown in New York and has worked as an editor at Random House Australia for 14 years, the last eight as managing editor.

VanOver said he is ‘thrilled to be joining Simon & Schuster Australia at such an exciting time’ and is looking forward to helping to expand the publisher’s local list. ‘It’s a talented and passionate team, and I look forward to helping to grow an already exciting list by publishing books that will entertain and inform, contribute to the cultural conversation and start new ones,’ said VanOver.

‘We’re delighted to have Brandon join the team,’ said S&S publishing director Fiona Henderson. ‘His extraordinary knowledge, eye for a great story, his amazing work ethic and his ability to draw the best from colleagues and authors alike have earned him an enviable reputation and make him the perfect choice for our ambitions to build our Simon & Schuster Australia list.’

VanOver will commence in his new role on 7 May.
