PRH, Text, Fullers and Torquay Books awarded at Leading Edge Books Conference

A number of industry awards were presented at this year’s Leading Edge Books Conference in Hobart on 26 March.

Penguin Random House was named Publisher of the Year, while Text Publishing was named the inaugural Small Publisher of the Year.

Fullers Bookshop in Hobart was named Metro Bookstore of the Year for the second year running, and was chosen from a shortlist that included the Avenue Bookstore in Melbourne and Readings in Carlton.

Torquay Books in Torquay, Victoria, won Regional Bookstore of the Year. Also shortlisted were BooksPlus in Bathurst, New South Wales, and Farrell’s Bookshop in Mornington, Victoria.

Avid Reader in Brisbane won the Best Business Ideas Award for the store’s custom-made dump bins.

The awards were presented at a dinner at the Glen Albyn Estate, which included the announcement of the 2018 Indie Book Awards and a speech by Asylum Seeker Resource Centre founder Kon Karapanagiotidis.
