New York Rights Fair partners with BookExpo

BookExpo and the inaugural New York Rights Fair (NYRF) have formed a partnership that will make NYRF the official rights fair of BookExpo.

BookExpo will move its rights centre to the site of NYRF this year, with both events running simultaneously from 30 May to 1 June.

As part of the agreement, NYRF attendees will have full access to the BookExpo exhibition floor, while BookExpo badge holders with a Rights badge designation will have full access to NYRF. Shuttle buses will travel between the two events.

The NYRF is a collaboration between BolognaFiere, which runs the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Publishers Weekly and Combined Book Exhibit.

Publishers Weekly president George Slowik Jr said, ‘This relationship was born for the common goal of best serving the publishing industry’, adding that the partnership would open ‘new and exciting opportunities to better support the dialogue between international and American publishing’.

Through its readers and clients, Slowik Jr said, Publishers Weekly discovered ‘there was an opportunity for two events’, and that its ‘POV as a horizontal publication’ and its relationships with BookExpo and BolognaFiere ‘enabled us to foster and develop a strong collaboration between the two events’.
