Forward Prizes for Poetry shortlists announced

In the UK, the shortlists for the Forward Prizes for Poetry have been announced.

The shortlist for the £10,000 (A$17,570) Forward Prize for Best Collection is:

• Venus as a Bear (Vahni Capildeo, Carcanet)
• Assurances (J O Morgan, Jonathon Cape)
• Black Sun (Toby Martinez de las Rivas, Faber)
• Don’t Call Us Dead (Danez Smith, Chatto & Windus)
• Wade in the Water (Tracy K Smith, Penguin).

Shortlists have also been announced in the categories of best first collection, worth £5000 (A$8780), and best single poem, worth £1000 (A$1760). See the full shortlists here.
